| The
non-traditional, distance-ed approach to Bible education is the obvious
alternative. While specific immeasurable objectives and methods of
measuring competencies employed in traditional schools have proven their
worth, the founders believe that the multiple learning experience of individuals
should be measured, assessed, and confirmed for Biblical academic equivalency,
utilizing somewhat different methods. |
| In
1834, the University of London was the first school of higher learning
to offer degrees without classroom attendance requirements. Today this
concept is called "non-traditional education." The non-traditional
approach uses a process of evaluation of the individual's total learning
portfolio, including previously completed academic courses, instruction,
and a work or ministry experience education. We have found that many
men and women in ministry have completed what would be valuable ministry
internships prior to any formal education. |
| Therapon
University follows the philosophy that,
"All
Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine
(belief,
sets the norms for faith and life), for
reproof (identifying and correcting
error in belief and conduct that brings about conviction of a wrong), for
correction (after the conviction comes
setting a matter straight), for instruction
in the righteousness (discipline,
structured training), that the man of
God may be mature, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."
(2 Timothy
3:16) Whether Bible doctrine is taught in a traditional or non-traditional
setting does not increase or decrease the value of ageless Bible principles. |
| An
objective of Therapon is that a student learn, not about the Bible, but
learn the Bible. The intent is that each learn Biblical truths -
line upon line, precept upon precept, principle upon principle, statute
upon statute. |
| Therapon
University is a learning alternative to traditional Bible institute education.
It is another objective of Therapon to provide a comfortable, compassionate,
environment in which a person can grow, learn, develop and become what
they are capable of becoming within the framework of our programs.
A positive, personal approach to a Bible education is offered and individual
attention is provided to develop and assist a student in whatever way is
necessary to facilitate the completion of degree programs in Biblical Theology
or Biblical Counseling. |
