Lord, help me to cooperate with your commands. Luke 5:1-11. On the failure these men experienced. The difference Christ makes.

Jesus was constantly thronged by crowds desiring to hear His words. When the pressure became too great, He borrowed a boat and taught from its floating platform. When He had completed the lesson, Jesus told Simon Peter to row out into deeper water and throw out his nets for fish. Study this passage on cooperation carefully.

Cooperative people are essential. No one is able to function without help, yet some fail to realize their interdependence. The world at large, and the church in particular thrive on cooperation. No man is an island, and none is totally self-sufficient. We need one another and God has chosen to do much of His work in this world through cooperative individuals.

The genius of God's work is that God is capable of using every Christian in His service. He blends together in the church a caring community of persons having distinctive personalities, particular gifts and unique abilities. When God's people cooperate and work together, God is glorified.
