Lord, help me be more dependable. Matthew 26:31-35; 69-75. On Peter’s promise to Christ. The possibility of failure.

Jesus attempted to explain the future to His disciples. In doing so, He predicted His own death and the scattering of His followers. Peter reacted to those statements by declaring His own dependability. He promised to be loyal even though he had to stand alone. Discover the extent of Pete’s stability..

Definition:

The ability to function with such stability and reliability that others can trust us to perform responsibly at all times

Good intentions are not enough.  People who make promises but don't follow through with them are unreliable. The dependable person keeps his/her promises, functions responsibly, and acts predictably. Dependable people have stable marriages and secure relationships.

The faithfulness of God is so great that we can totally rely upon Him to keep His Word.  The reason we trust God to keep His promises is because He has proven His faithfulness over and over. He is completely dependable, trust-worthy, and responsible.  He has never forgotten a promise or neglected His children.

Dependability is a part of God’s essential nature and a character trait we ought always to emulate.
