We sometimes have problems recognizing gifts that are given us even if they hit us in head. For instance, there were some men in a quarantine hospice that had this problem. They had contracted a terminal disease, which was considered contagious, so they were forced to exist on the outskirts of society with other infected patients until they died.

Their quarantine, by law, required that they keep a great distance from healthy persons, even if they were traveling from one place to another in search of handouts. Whenever anyone came in sight, these men were to yell out, shouting, "unclean, unclean" so everyone could totally avoid them. And everyone usually did. Let's learn what happened when Jesus was around them.

Satan sometimes blocks our feelings of gratitude with the lie, "that's not a gift from God -- that's natural --it would have happened anyway.  Consider whether there have been gifts given to us that we assumed were merely a result of the natural course of things. Or possibly we saw these gifts given by God as a result only of our efforts and good judgment.
